Accommodation
All our Rooms are Strictly Non-Smoking
We have three ground floor, en-suite rooms plus two standard first floor rooms which share a bathroom. All our rooms are centrally heated with hospitality trays, hair dryers, towels and colour TV. We are open for guests all year round, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day. Our Family and Spa rooms have a separate reception entrance.
A 20% deposit will secure your booking
- All prices include a full English cooked breakfast or alternative.
- Rooms which are found to have been smoked in will incur an additional cleaning charge of £50.
- Well-behaved pets are welcome.
- We can cater for special diets if we are informed before your arrival.
- Packed lunches available by prior arrangement
- We have orthopedic chairs, ramps and rooms aids freely available for our less able guests (please ask for details).
Singles
From £27.00 per person per night for a standard room and from £35.00 for an en-suite. Children under twelve years old sharing with parents are ½ price.
En-suite Rooms
Family Room
For the larger family, we can accommodate two adults and two or more children in our spacious family room. Children under twelve years old sharing with parents ½ the adult price. A cot is also available.

Sunflower Room
This double room is a bright, sunny room and ideal for the romantic couple. Two people sharing costs from just £27.00 per person per night.

Garden Room
This room is equipped with spa bath and free- standing shower, washbasin and toilet. Accommodation consists of one double and one single bed. Cost is from just £27.00 per person per night. Children under twelve years old sharing with parents ½ the adult price.
 Twin En-suite
Our Family or Garden Rooms cost just £28 per person per night when used as twin en-suites.

We have two first floor rooms which share a bathroom as follows.
Woodland Room
First floor twin bedded room from £25 per person per night

Bluebell Room
Family room accommodating two adults plus two or more children from £25.00 per person per night. Children under twelve years old sharing with parents are ½ price.

Swimming Pool
The swimming pool is located in the grounds. It is available free to our guests and heated during the season and is covered by a permanent poly-tunnel.
The pool is open from May to September and is available to all of our guests, free of charge, except at times when it has been hired out to private parties.
The pool is available for exclusive hire at £12 per hour by arrangement for private parties.

Campsite
We are registered with "The Caravan & Camping Club" as a listed site. Our paddock is in a quiet, secluded position, approximately one acre in size and surrounded with trees. The site has drinking water, Elsan and refuse disposal points. Situated within the grounds of Briar Lea House the site enjoys the use of the swimming pool (£2 charge per person per hour and restrictions apply) and gardens. Our touring van rates for 2006 are £5 per night for up to two people plus an additional charge for extra persons of £2.50 per person per night.

In order to promote good environmental practices throughout the Company, the Policy with regard to the environment is as follows:-

Local Attractions
Carlisle Carlisle has 2,000 years of Border history with wars, castles, forts, and the famous Hadrian's Wall and many other places of interest to visit. Carlisle is renowned for its choice of shop, covered markets and services. The Lanes Shopping Centre with narrow back lanes and old world charm is a must for exploration. The Sands entertainment Centre offers a variety of programmes and Carlisle has an active night life.
Longtown Longtown is home to England's largest sheep market, and sits on the River Esk, being the natural border with Scotland. In the past Longtown has seen many centuries of border warfare. One of the local legends is that King Arthur raised an army of Northern Britons to meet the pagan hoards from the North Sea. It is said that King Arthur's last battle could have been at the Hadrian's Wall fort of Camtoglama and that his body rested at the Parish of Arthuret. Briar Lea House is situated on the Solway Moss Battlefield (1542) Which was fought between the British and the invading Scottish armies. Longtown has free on street parking and a variety of shops, restaurants and take away's.
Scotland Perhaps you would like to visit Scotland, the border of which is only 4 miles away. Why not elope for the day to the Famous Blacksmiths shop at Gretna Green. Or perhaps visit the Gretna Sunday market or shop in the new retail outlet village, an experience not to be missed. You could even drive to Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Lake District The North Lakes and Windermere are all a short distance away and make a pleasant day out. Ullswater, shown left, is the nearest lake to us just 45 minutes away. |
How to find us...
From the South: There is easy access to and from the M6 motorway from Briar Lea House. Take the Galashiels exit (Junction 44) from the M6 and then take the A7 (marked Edinburgh Tourist Route) heading for Longtown. On entering Longtown take the A6071 towards Brampton. This is also called Albert Street.Briar Lea House is the first house on the right, past the Borders Business Park, and is situated just a minutes drive (half a mile) from the A7.
From the North: Leave the A74(M) or A75 at the A6071 for Gretna and Longtown. Follow the A6071 until you meet the A7 just out side of Longtown. Turn right onto the A7, pass through Longtown looking out for the same rout number the A6071 this time to Brampton. It is a left turn just before the second pelican crossing. This is also called Albert Street.Briar Lea House is the first house on the right, past the Borders Business Park, and is situated just a minutes drive (half a mile) from the A7. |
