| Brantgate Bed and Breakfast is situated in the northern half of the Lake District, midway between Penrith and Keswick. |

| Accommodation One double room and one twin room. As a family run business we offer a warm reception and homely accommodation to our guests. We open throughout the year and we have cheery log fires burning during the cooler months. From £17.00 per person per night. The Area Brantgate is situated in the quiet unspoilt hamlet of Mosedale in the northern half of the Lake District. The house nestles at the very foot of Carrock Fell, part of the Northern Fells group. The outlook to the rear is the steeply rising flank of Carrock Fell itself and the view to the front is a patchwork quilt of open fields. |

| Our guests can be in bed and watch the sun come up and the sheep and lambs playing in the fields at certain times of the year. The wildlife is plentiful, it is not uncommon to see a fox wander across the flank of the fell behind the house, birds of prey (buzzards, peregrine, kestrels being the most common) can often be seen flying above the fells. Attractions The Lake District We are situated in the Northern Fells, which is a relatively quiet area of the Lake District, but are within easy reach of Keswick (only 20 minutes away) and Lake Derwentwater, Queen of the English Lakes. Lake Ullswater is also nearby. Grasmere (the home of Wordsworth). Ambleside and Windermere are easily accessible, in fact any part of the Lake District can be comfortably fitted into a days outing. The Border Country and Hadrian's Wall We are also ideally situated for touring up to the Border Country where the Roman Emperor Hadrian built a wall to keep out the marauding Picts and Scots. Much of this wall and the forts can be still seen today. Also border castles and peel towers can be seen in this area. Walking Here in Mosedale, if you do not fancy driving, you can walk straight into the hills. Saddleback (Blencathra and Skiddaw can be reached from here). Geology Carrock Fall is a haven for geologists. It is said that silver and gold have been found in these hills, also lead, copper, molybdenum to name but a few. History and Archaeology For the historians Carrock Fell has an ancient hill fort situated around its summit that was sacked by the Romans. Cycling Cyclists and Mountain Bikers will find the roads much quieter and there are off road routes for the more adventurous. We are also on the Lands End to John O'Groats cycle route. Swimming The river Caldew flows nearby where there are some very good pools to be found for those that like to go swimming on hot, lazy summer days. Outdoor Pursuits Hang gliders and paragliders fly from the surrounding fells, and the area caters for most outdoor sports - golf, horse riding, sailing, windsurfing, climbing, walking, fishing, mountain biking etc. How to Find Us Leave the M6 at Junction 40 (Penrith A66 turn). Turn for Keswick on the A66, after approximately 12 miles, turn right for Mungrisdale and Caldbeck (signposted). Continue through Mungrisdale Village, (do not deviate from this road) and after approximately 2 miles along the fell bottom you will come to the village of Mosedale (signposted).
