Originally believed to have been a coaching inn, dating from the late 17th century, the Best Beech Inn has been at various times a butchers and an early petrol station. When Standing outside and looking at the chimney you will see a Community Village Circle symbol, this signified that the inn was bicycle friendly! Now the history of the Best Beech Inn is changing again.

Ownership of the inn recently changed with the acquisition of the Best Beech by Roger Felstead. Recently voted highly in the "Best Pubs Wealden" competition, the Best Beech Inn is offers elegance and an exquisite dining experience.

The Best Beech Inn offers a modern European cuisine with classical French influences. Mouth watering examples of the menu are "Squid ink risotto topped with a seared scallop and pancetta; Pan fried fillet of John Dory with roasted beetroot, fine beans and an orange essence, and meat dish."

These are complimented by original and interesting choices of starter course and puddings ensuring an experience that cannot be enjoyed elsewhere in Kent and Sussex.

The wine cellar is a major attraction with a wide selection of fine wines from France, Italy, Spain, South Africa and the new world vineyards of the USA, Australia and South America. The Best Beech Inn is ideally suited for those wishing to explore the delights of the South East, an area often referred to as the 'garden of England'.

With central London and both Gatwick less than 1 hour away and Heathrow under 1.5 hours. The south coast only another hour distant, the Best Beech is located approximately 10 minutes drive west of the main A21 London Hastings Road.

Close to the High Weald town of Wadhurst in East Sussex, the Best Beech Inn can also be easily reached by rail. The railway station at Wadhurst provides fast, direct services to central London and the south coast in less than an hour.The south coast resort of Brighton can be reached in only 45 minutes and Dover and Ashford in an hour, perfect for a day trip to France by ferry or train.

Whether approaching from the north or south, the A21 or A267, simply follow the signs for the B2100 and you will find the Best Beech at the crossroads, on the top of the hill between Wadhurst and Mark Cross.
