Bessiestown is situated just off the B6318, within easy driving distance of the M6 Carlisle, M74 Gretna and A7 Longtown and Langholm.

An ideal location for an overnight stop to and from Scotland, a few days break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, or a longer holiday making Bessiestown your base for touring the many places of interest in the area - Carlisle City, Hadrian's wall, Keilder Water, Solway and Galloway coasts, the lake District, South Scotland and Gretna Green, to name but a few...

At Bessiestown a warm, light hearted welcome awaits you. Guests enjoy peace and quiet in delightfully furnished and decorated public rooms. The warm, pretty ensuite bedrooms have colour TV, radio, hostess tray, hair dryers, large fluffy towels and many little extras that show we care.

Bessiestown is renowned for its hearty breakfasts with home made preserves and freshly baked bread. Simply delicious home cooked dinners, lovingly prepared and tastefully presented, using locally grown produce and traditional recipes, followed by mouth watering sweets.

Situated around the attractive courtyard is a beautiful honeymoon suite, with large four poster bed, lounge area and beautiful bathroom with corner spa bath.

Also, three tastefully converted self catering cottages, each with two ground floor bedrooms and bathroom, and a lounge on the first floor enjoying extensive views over Border and Solway countryside.

Very popular is the indoor heated swimming pool which is open from mid-May to September solely for the use of our guests.

Bessiestown is open all year round and is a non smoking house.

The pool measures 34' long x 20' wide and from 2' 9" to 6' 6" deep and is available daily from 9.00 am to 11.00 am and 4.30 pm to 9.00 pm., closed Saturday mornings and some Sunday afternoons.

This luxury suite is elegant and spacious, decorated and furnished to the highest standard in pastel shades with a king size four poster bed andlounge area with comfortable chairs, colour television, hospitality tray and many little extras that show we care. The suite also houses a dressing room and beautiful bathroom with corner spa bath with shower over, washbasin and toilet.

The Dove Cote offers perfect seclusion with the option of enjoying the company of our other guests in the lounge and conservatory of the main house.

Bessiestown Farm Booking Conditions

A Non returnable deposit of £20.00 per person is payable at the time of reservation, balance to be paid on departure. Cheques payable to Sisson
Swimming Pool (open mid May -mid Sept) available daily from 9am - 11am and 4.30pm 8pm. Closed Saturday mornings and some Sunday afternoons. All children and non swimmers must be supervised in and around the swimming pool. The owners regret they cannot be held responsible for any accident that may occur. For safety reasons swimming pool doors must be kept locked when swimming pool is not in use. Please supply own towels for swimming.
No dogs or pets are permitted
Ample "safe" parking. However cars are parked at owner's risk and no responsibility can be accepted for loss or damage to vehicles or contents. Own transport is essential.
The owners regret that they cannot be held responsible for any accident that occurs whilst on the premises.

Directions

Travelling North exit junction 44 M6 motorway follow A7 to Longtown.
Travelling South, East and West A6071 to Longtown
Take road at Bush Hotel signed Catlowdy for 6.5 miles to T junction at Bridge Inn. Turn right onto B6318 for 1.5 miles to Catlowdy.
Besiestown first drive on the left hand side opposite corner shops.

Bessiestown is a 140 acre sheep rearing farm situated in open countryside only two miles from the border with Scotland on the B6318 leading to Hadrian's Wall Country.
If you are looking for a holiday with organised entertainment, bright lights and hectic night life then this is not the place for you. However, if you want a quiet, more leisurely break, then Bessiestown should suit you admirably.

Our self catering cottages comprise of the Stable, Barn End, and Barn Close. They are two bedrooms traditional stone and slate cottages tastefully converted from the old farm buildings, situated around an attractive paved courtyard with extensive views towards Border and Solway Country. The Cottages feature exposed beams, some pine and natural stone walls. They are decorated, furnishedand carpeted to a high standard, providing a care free holiday in a rural setting. Each cottage is very well equipped with everything needed for an enjoyable holiday, including electric cooker, microwave, refrigerator, television, immersion heater, electric fires, storage heaters as well as background central heating.

All bed linen including duvets, extra blankets and towels are provided. The cottages are very clean, warm and inviting with beds made up ready for your arrival.

Own transport is essential and there is ample parking.
Guests are welcome to order evening meals in the farmhouse dining room.

The Barn Cottages
have one double and one twin bedded room each with wash basin. Bathroom with bath/shower over, wash basin and toilet on the ground floor. Spiral staircase leading to open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area on first floor.

The Stable Cottage
has one double and one twin bedded room and a bathroom with bath/shower over, wash basin and toilet on the ground floor. Open pine staircase leading to open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area on first floor. Twin room has an en-suite shower room (Disabled Friendly).
