The town of Chepstow sits on the River Wye where it flows into the Severn Estuary, on the border between England and Wales, and has much to offer the visitor and especially those who wish to utilise the town as a tourist centre. Within easy driving distance, the visitor can see the beauty of Tintern Abbey, the majesty of the Wye Valley with the splendour of Symonds Yat and enjoy browsing among the numerous Medieval Castles that abound in the area. For those who prefer grandeur and walking, the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons are within a 40 minute drive.
Chepstow itself has been a key point throughout the region's history - remains of a roman fort are still visible - and with its spectacularly sited castle, impressive 13th century town walls and its twisting, medieval streets, there are many reminders of its historic past.
Even the needs of avid sportsman can be met as, within 2 miles, there is the Chepstow Racecourse where meetings are held all year round under both National Hunt and Jockey Club Rules. The attractive golf courses of St Pierre, Shirenewton, Celtic Manor and Dewstow are just a few minutes drive away.
