| PLACES TO VISIT AND THINGS TO DO Many people use St Austell as a base to visit The Eden Project, Heligan Gardens and the National Trust properties in the area. We will be please to provide information about all of these, including public transport details or suggested itineraries. ![]() BUT THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO SEE …beautiful beaches, headlands and magnificent cliffs, hidden harbours, rivers and woodlands as well as inland heaths and moorlands. Why not take time to come and be refreshed, and explore the "real Cornwall". It is very easy to get off the beaten track, and we are always pleased to share our local knowledge with you. We are keen walkers ourselves, and can lend you maps and suggest routes for both long day hikes or short strolls. ![]() Each season of the year has its own special attractions and colours. Cornish gardens are at their most colourful in spring, and the cliffs and woods are often covered in wild flowers. The climate is usually mild in autumn and winter, making it ideal for exploring without any traffic queues. |

| PUBS AND RESTAURANTS There is an increasing number of pubs and restaurants serving excellent meals in the area. Several of these are within walking distance of Bankside. Over the summer weekends especially, it is advisable to book in advance at the more popular ones, and we will be please to discuss that with you and make bookings on our behalf. PACKED LUNCHES If you are planning to walk "off the beaten track", or would simply like to have your lunch en route, we can provide you with a packed lunch. Please order packed lunches in advance. PLEASE NOTE We are a non smoking household but you are welcome to smoke in the garden. We do not have pets ourselves and regret we are unable to accept pets belonging to others. We would like to point out that there are flights of steps at both the front and rear of our house, and this can make access difficult for some people. |
