Welcome

Bamburgh Hall Farm is in the centre of Bamburgh village. It is exactly next to the very large church, and on the same side of the road. It has a large private tarmaced parking area, right beside it.

Barbara and Charles Baker-Cresswell have been farming here for more than 40 years - and have opened their home to bed and breakfasters for the last 8. They have hundreds of testimonials from satisfied guests.

Accommodation

Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom (no shower) and tea and coffee making equipment. On the 1st floor we have 1 double and 1 twin room both with en suite bathrooms. A suite on the 2nd floor consists of 2 large attic rooms, 1 double and 1 twin, sharing a bathroom. Both the attic rooms have views of Bamburgh Castle.

Breakfasts are lavish with local bacon and sausages, our own eggs and home grown tomatoes and mushrooms when available. Vegetarian breakfasts and salmon kedgeree are available on request. The drawing room is reserved for guests, and we light the fire there when the evenings are cool. TV and CD's are available in that room. There are many books available throughout the house.

History

Bamburgh Hall is a 17th century farmhouse. It was once the home of Tom Forster, self styled General in the ill-fated Derwentwater Rebellion in 1715. After defeat at Preston and imprisonment in the Tower of London, he was helped to escape by his daughter, Dorothy. He is buried in the crypt of the church next door. It is likely that plans for the rebellion were made in the dining room of this house.
