| Warwick survives today as one of the most complete historic towns in the country. Within a relatively small area there are many buildings of historic interest, including the dramatic mediaeval castle, the Lord Leycester Hospital, established as an old soldiers home in1571, and the Collegiate Church of St Mary with its magnificent Beauchamp Chapel. The Great Fire of 1694 destroyed part of the mediaeval town but the elegant Queen Anne rebuilding provides Warwick with a unique architectural heritage. |

One Thousand Years of Secrets
If you stand inside the Castle grounds, you'd believe that the Castle was sighing. Heavy deep breaths, drawn over a thousand years of conspiracy, secrecy, scandal and high drama.
Join a mediaeval household as it makes ready for the final battle of 'Kingmaker' the Earl of Warwick, who has only hours to live.
Enter the spooky Ghost Tower, and hear the chilling tale of the murder of Sir Fulke Greville, whose restless soul is said to haunt these rooms, or venture underground to the eerie silence of the Dungeon or into the grisly Torture Chamber.
Try on a helmet, feel the weight on the mighty swords, in the Armoury.
In the Great Hall you'll come face to face with Oliver Cromwell's death mask, or you can soak in the opulence of the State Dining Room.
The apparent protocol of the Royal Weekend Party disguises the web of intrigue surrounding Daisy, Countess of Warwick, and the 'Marlborough Set'. Chat with our costumed characters to find out about the decorum and lifestyle of Victorian society.
Finally, climb up the impressive Towers and Ramparts, and wander through the beautifully landscaped gardens, the work of 'Capability' Brown.
The story of Warwick Castle is best told first hand, so come and hear it for yourself. |
