Anstey Grove Barn is a converted barn providing high quality bed and breakfast accommodation in the heart of the tranquil and beautiful Hertfordshire countryside. About us Andrew and Alice have been at Anstey Grove Barn for over 25 years, raising a family and running a farm in the heart of rural Hertfordshire. In 1980 they bought a working pig farm with 20 acres of land and began to build a family home. Within months the house was built, and within years a broadleaf wood was planted and wildflower meadow cultivated that have now come to be protected by the Hertfordshire Wildlife Trust. The working pig farm has now gone, but the wood, meadows, flock of free range hens and horses remain.
The Barn In 2004 Alice and Andrew decided to convert the large Barn at the heart of the farm and create high quality bed and breakfast accommodation. Their intention has always been to provide a homely base from which families, couples and those just passing through can enjoy a break in the countryside exactly how they want to.  The Barn has been specifically converted to contain a large open fire in the lounge area, a garden for barbeques, boules or just relaxing, as well as the en- suite accommodation itself. And of course, there's the woodland and meadows on the farm land to explore before you even venture out for walks or the wealth of local pubs! |
| The Rooms (all en suite) 2 Twin, 4 Double (including 1 master suite with four-poster bed, bathroom with free standing roll top bath, shower and separate WC). The Breakfast Choice of breakfasts, including full farmhouse breakfast with bacon and award winning sausages from the local butcher and eggs from the small flock of laying hens on the farm or vegetarian and other options, available. Home cooked Evening meals available by prior arrangement. The Lounge Large lounge area with comfortable sofas, stocked with books, local literature, games and a large wood-burning stove.   The Garden Private walled garden to barbeque, play Boules or watch the sunset, weather permitting. The Woods Broad leaf woodland planted in 1986, a wildflower meadow which is listed as an important site on the Herts Wildlife Trust register within our farmland. |

| Local Interest The villages and countryside surrounding Anstey provide a wealth of opportunities to appreciate English country life at its best: ~ A wealth of local pubs providing real beer and good food. ~ Olympic clay pigeon shooting in the neighbouring village of Nuthampstead. ~ Extensive nature trails and extensive footpath network across the meadows and woods of Hertfordshire, including "The Herts Way". ~ The winding country lanes also make for excellent cycling and we can help you arrange your cycle hire for your stay. ~ A huge array of local history, from the Norman church and castle mound in the village itself to the former Second World War American bomber station which has a memorial stone at the local public house. |
