Hospitality is just one of Acarsaid's great attractions and your resident hosts Sandy and Ina MacArthur will make you feel at home from the moment you arrive
Acarsaid is Gaelic for 'anchorage' or 'haven' and this traditional Victorian villa was built in 1880 for Lady Helen Stewart, Countess of Kilbride and was subsequently given its lovely Gaelic name by a retired sea captain.
In today's bustling world it is still a peaceful haven, surrounded by the Highlands and just a short and easy walk from thecentre of Pitochry and it's famed Festival Theatre.

With 19 warm and comfortable en-suite bedrooms (five on the ground floor), two inviting lounges (one non-smoking), a well stocked bar (lots of great malt whiskies) and a fine restaurant, you'll look forward to coming home each evening- especially to Ina's traditional Taste of Scotland home cooking that finds so much favour with guests. For theatre-goers, Ina serves an early dinner.

Sandy has all the details of leisure pursuits that may take your fancy- hill walking, pony trekking, fishing, golfing (there are 37 courses in Perthshire alone!), bowling, white water rafting and other water sports- and of course the local attractions that include at least two distilleries!

Pitlochry is Scotland's premier island resort and has been a favourite destination for generations of visitors. To the North lies the Pass of Killiecrankie and fabulous Blair Castle with Britain's only private army; to the north-west is the renowned Queen's View overlooking Loch Tummel. ("…sure by Tunnel and Loch Rannoch and Lochaber I will go- The Road to the Isles).
To the South lies Dunkeld and Birnam ("Fear not, till Birnam wood do come to Dunsinane"- Macbeth). Peter Rabbit creator Beatrix Potter had a cottage just across the glen from Birnam, and Robert Louis Stevenson lived in Pitlochry itself…a wealth of natural beauty and fascinating connections that will have you returning to Pitlochry year after year like so many of Arcasaid's guests.
Closer at hand, a five minute level walk from Arcasaid will bring you to the town centre and a fascinating array of quality shops offering Scottish woollens, tweeds, china, crystal and typical delicacies to take home as presents.
When you're ready to venture further afield west to Oban, east to Baemar and Balmoral or St. Andrews, south to Edinburgh, Stirling or Glasgow or north into the beautiful Highland wilderness you'll really appreciate Pitlochry's central geographical position and it's easily accessibility by road and rail.
Whether it's a short break or your main holiday, you'll thoroughly enjoy Pitlochry as your base and Acarsaid as your Highland haven.
