The spa town of Harrogate is a popular tourist destination. Located in North Yorkshire England is known not only for its spa waters but also for the RHS Harlow Carr gardens and Betty's Tea rooms. Originally two minor villages but in 1571 with the first mineral spring discovery Harrogate became more popular.
The biggest draw to Harrogate is of course the spa. The spa is a mix of iron and sulphur and is a popular place for people to head to relax. Another popular stop is Ripley Castle. Located in between Harrogate and Ripon, Ripley Castle was built during the fifteenth century. Opened for public tours the castle grounds contain a large lake and gardens that are also open for the public to enjoy. It's a popular location for weddings and other celibrations.
Visitors to the Harrogate area can enjoy a variety of different festivals throughout the year. The Jazz and World Music program always has a variety of famous names that play it. From B.B King to Wynton Maralis there is an artist for everyone to enjoy.

Another famed festival is the annual Harrogate International Festival. This is held each July and August and is considered North of England's leading arts festival. The festival includes orchestral and classical programs and encompasses many leading strands. The Harrogate International Festival attracts leading performers, orchestras and also discovers new talent with their Young Musicians series.
