The seaside resort town of Bognor Regis was originally settled in 680AD. Until the early 20th Century the town was originally named Bognor since it was only a modest fishing town, and often a smuggling site as well. It was the in the 18th Century when Sir Richard Hotham began converting the town into a tourist destination. In the late 1920s King George V stayed at one of the homes here and the King was asked, and he complied to give the city the name Regis, which literally means "of the King".

Of course since this is a seaside resort the first pay homage to the beach. And why not, on average Bognor Beach is said to get more sun than any other beach in Britain. The beach is ideal for families and sun bathers to enjoy a nice relaxing day in the sun and surf. With countless amenities close at hand. The beach really is the place to hang out.

Located just off the beach is the beautiful Promenade. Here you can find a bite to eat, visit unique shops and even relax in one of the many seaside bars. There are also many rides and amusement activities for the young and old. It's a great place to head when the sun gets to be too much for you.

Even though the beach is probably the biggest draw, there are many other things to do while you are in town. When you need a day off from the beach then you can still enjoy the great outdoors. After you've viewed the beauty of the flowers of Bognor you might want to head inside. There are times when you just need to get out of the sun and into the air conditioning. You can find unique items to take home with you to remind you of the fun in the sun from your holiday. There is also an open air market that is held across the square from the theatre.

For those that enjoy a night out on the town, then you will find no shortage here. The night clubs of Bognor Regis have just about a club for anyone. If you are into live music, then there are clubs for you to enjoy.
