In the district of Hertfordshire England lies the city of Watford. Watford is located a mere 32 Km, or 20 miles, northwest of London. It is close to many areas such as Bushey, Kings Langley, as well as the Three Rivers. Watford is the 47th largest urban area in all of England. The town dates back to 1007 when it was fist mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon charter. It doesn't actually appear in the Domesday tome but was mentioned in an, at the time, more important document of the settlement of Cashio. Thanks to its rich history Watford has many areas of interest for visitors to see and enjoy.
Watford Colosseum, is a great place to start. This place is renowned for its acoustic abilities. It is considered to be the best in the United Kingdom. Here is where the music for the Star Wars Trilogies, Lord of the Rings Trilogy and the Sound of Music were recorded. It is also where Julian Lloyd Webber performed Elgar's Cello Concerto. It has also been the site of many other popular concerts. It's an interesting building and should be visited if at all possible.
Another great place to take in a show is the Watford Palace Theater. It is the only producing theatre in Hertfordshire. There are many different types of plays and pantomimes for you to enjoy during your stay. The theatre was opened in 1908 and has been in continuous use for over 100 years, with the exception of the several months that it was being refurbished.
If you are looking for some outside fun, then check out the Cassiobury Park. The 190 acres of park was once the grounds of the Cassiobury House. The house was demolished in 1927 but the grounds were left for general use. There is a play area for the kids, which includes a train track, bouncy castle, play equipment and a paddling pool. There are also several kiosks to purchase food at and an ice cream van for that cool treat on a hot day.
Watford is also home to many different eateries and restaurants for you to choose from. There is no shortage of things for you try and taste. While you are here, its important for you to try something new, you never know what you might find. You might find that you have a new favorite dish by just taking a chance.
